You are sweet enough

Healthy Food Policy Reel Series: Episode 4

We All Have a Part to Play
Welcome to the final episode of our “You’re Sweet Enough” Health Policy Miniseries! Throughout this series, we’ve explored the many benefits that could result from implementing government-enforced healthy food policies. These policies include imposing a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages (reducing the consumption of unhealthy sugary drinks), requiring front-of-package labelling (informing the public about what they are eating transparently), and increasing health education programs.

In today’s episode, we are joined by Dr Tiria Julius, a medical doctor and health advocate. Dr Julius emphasizes the crucial role individuals play in improving our country’s public health. While healthy policies are necessary, most non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are caused by lifestyle and dietary choices. This means that individuals can take a variety of actions to combat NCDs.

As individuals, we can:

1. Engage in regular exercise to prevent and combat numerous NCDs.

2. Increase our intake of healthy, natural foods while decreasing our consumption of unhealthy foods and beverages, thereby reducing the risk of developing NCDs.

3. Effectively manage our stress levels.
In the fight against NCDs, we all have a role to play! We hope this miniseries has informed and empowered you to make positive changes to improve your health.

Thank you for watching!
